Event Overview
☀️ What is OSPP
The Open Source Promotion Plan is a summer program organized by the Open Source Software Supply Chain Promotion Plan of the Institute of Software Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020. It aims to encourage university students to actively participate in the development and maintenance of open source software, cultivate and discover more outstanding developers, promote the vigorous development of excellent open source software communities, and assist in the construction of open source software supply chains.
The program collaborates with various open source communities, providing project development tasks for the development and maintenance of important open source software, and is open for registration to university students worldwide. Students can independently choose projects they are interested in, apply, and after selection, carry out development under the guidance of project developers (community mentors). Based on the project's difficulty and completion, participants will receive a bonus and a completion certificate.

💁 Organizers
This program is hosted by the Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
🎭 Roles
🔵 Organizing Committee: The committee consists of staff arranged by the organizers, responsible for organizing and managing the program.
🟢 Community: Provides project lists and descriptions, assigns mentors for corresponding projects, and advances related processes according to event rules.
🟡 Mentor: Each project is assigned a mentor by the community. Mentors guide students in developing a suitable development plan and completing the development according to the plan.
🟣 Student Developers: Students choose projects freely, communicate with community mentors to realize plans, and submit project applications. Selected students will complete development under the guidance of community mentors and contribute to the community. Successful participants will receive bonus and certificates.

🟢 About Communities - Which open source communities can participate?
Community repositories adopt OSI-approved open source licenses or OKF recommended Open Knowledge License.
Communities must have been publicly operational for more than six months.

🟡 About Mentors - How to become a project mentor?
Each project must have a designated mentor from the community, who should generally be a developer related to the project (Maintainer, Committer, Contributor). Each mentor can guide only one project.
🚫 Mentors cannot participate in this event as student developers. If this situation is discovered during the event, the committee will cancel their eligibility and will not issue bonuses or certificates for either role.

🧐 How many projects can a student undertake?
Each student can apply for a maximum of one project.
💰 What is the project bonus amount?
Project difficulty is divided into basic and advanced levels. The corresponding bonuses for successful project completion are 8000 RMB (pre-tax) and 12000 RMB (pre-tax) respectively. (Note: All bonus amounts are in pre-tax RMB).
Students who pass the final project review will receive the bonus.
